A haiku

my teeth and gums hurt
oral surgeon took my dough
campbell’s chunky soup

I have to wait until next year to take out the left side wisdom teeth,  #16 and #17 i think, because I didn’t have enough dental insurance to cover both.  Who knew oral surgeon’s charge so much!  I’ve been drinking meat, soup, and smoothies since the extraction.  NOT looking forward #16 and #17.

pork belly? petroleum jelly?

Unbeknown to me, Woodside has a Filipino community.  We ate at a resturant called Renee’s Kitchenette with some friends.  It’s pretty cool that five years after college, Regina and the friends she made in college keep in touch regularly.  Renee, not the owner, was also in town.  We ate at Amy’s Bread for breakfast.  Check out FattyPepper for a review on these places in the next week.

Verano en el ciudad …

The 2008 Philharmonic in the Park took place on the Great Lawn in Central Park.

It’s a free event featuring three pieces.  I think we got a great view for a free seat.  Not really.

Listening to the orchestra from a far distance

Actually the only reason we got seats was because of Mel and Betsey.  Pre-game fun is the whole point of the large crowd, no cost, summer time happenings.  Observe!

Afterwards Regina, Jack, and I headed to the Bohemian Beer Garden in Astoria to meetup with Erik Kinyon and friends, a good place for good Czech beer and food.

navajo friend

We hosted a Navajo native american for about two weeks.  The Palm ministry usually goes to Little Black Spot mountain on the Navajo reservation every summer to help the local church body.  This year, they decided to fly everyone to NYC instead.  In total, 22 Navajo’s took the city by storm.  Our guest, Kelvin, is 11 years old.  Oddly enough, he’s the only one that lives off the reservation.

During our free time with Kelvin we took him to Central Park, had a BBQ with my family, and saw “Walle”.

A couple of our friends’ pieces were in a gallery.  Brian, Mike, and Sarah … yay you!

Sarah and Brian showed us the studio space where they created their works.  Chris Du joined us later to view the gallery and then for a Pommes Frites run.

the fourth!

Regina and I went to Jason’s apartment with a few friends to celebrate the fourth of july.  We grilled, played games, and BBQ’ed.  We even smelled some wackity wack cheese that Jason got from Denmark.
